From Ms. Ayana Giann Carlos

(The Speech she never go to say)

I’ve known mariel ever since she was 3 years old. I remember I used to tell her about pre-school and how much fun it was. Before I knew it she was right on my tail, experiencing every grade with almost all the same teachers as I. It was like this all the way up until my senior year of high school. And among a good few, she was one that I knew I was going to miss immediately after graduation. She has always been a little sister to me. Someone who I swore to always look out for, but now that I think of it, she never really needed me. Because throughout the years I’ve known her, she kept becoming stronger and more capable of handling her own. I’ve seen her extremely hyper, talking with a million words per second. And I’ve seen her angry… Also talking with a million words per second. I’ve seen her laugh that contagious laugh, and smile that beautiful smile. I’ve seen her shed gallons of tears and I’ve seen her struggle to hold them back. I’ve witnessed her accomplishments and seen her accept failure with grace. But over everything, I’ve seen her grow into the beautiful and bright woman we see her as now. Mariel, I love you and I commend you for what you’ve been through. And I thank God for all of it too, because without every laugh, and tear, and step you took to get to this point, you wouldn’t be as amazing as I know you are now. Stay sassy and let this be the first of many crazy birthdays to come. I love you always and enjoy life (:
